New Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa keeps doors open for partnerships with Honda, seeking aid for autonomous mobility advancement.

Nissan's incoming CEO, Ivan Espinosa, hinted at the possibility of a partnership with Honda or other partners in the realm of autonomous mobility, expressing that the massive task will need the support of a partner. In his statements, initially reported by Bloomberg, Espinosa mentioned being open to Honda or other such partnerships if they contribute to driving the company’s vision forward. Linked with his trail, Espinosa is set to step into his new role on April 1, succeeding Makoto Uchida. His comments come in the wake of a failed merger attempt with Honda, leading Nissan to let go of thousands of employees due to declining sales in major markets. Regardless, Espinosa indicated that the company might also be investigating other possibilities. According to him, partnering with the right company could be integral in shaping the 'intelligent' future of automotive manufacturing, an area where conventional auto manufacturers may lack certain competencies.
