Apple Inc. is said to be planning new versions of several of its products, most notably a redesigned iPhone SE, slated for release over the coming year. According to Bloomberg, the refreshed iPhone SE will notably abandon the home button, setting a new standard for all future Apple devices, as it's currently the last Apple model featuring one.
Insiders revealed that the new iPhone SE is expected to launch in early 2025, with an increased emphasis on artificial intelligence features that were a major highlight during the recent iPhone 16 unveiling.
This will be the first SE model since the iPhone SE 3's launch in 2022 that operated on 5G and had several other upgrades. Its design will transition from the home button to a larger, full display that stretches from corner to corner, a trait shared by the rest of the iPhone models in the Apple lineup.
Bloomberg's reports also spotlight other Apple products in the pipeline - a new iPad Air and accompanying keyboards expected as early as next year, a new iPad Mini potentially launching before the end of 2024, and revamped models in the Mac computer series, set to be launched later in 2025.
No immediate response came from Apple when approached for comment by Investopedia, and Apple's shares reportedly fell 1% when markets opened Wednesday. Despite being traded near record highs, the stocks faced a nearly 3% drop after Barclay's warned that the demand for the iPhone 16 might be muted.
