YouTube star, Logan Paul, mulls over selling his $5.3 million Pikachu Illustrator card.

A big name in YouTube, wrestling, and entrepreneurship, Logan Paul is also an avid Pokemon collector. One of the most valuable prizes in his collection, a "Pikachu Illustrator" card, might soon be hitting the market. The YouTuber acquired this rarity in 2021 for a whopping $5.3 million, making a record as the highest private sale of a Pokemon card recognized by Guinness.

In recent conversations with his network of over 23 million YouTube followers, Paul alluded to considering parting with his precious Pokemon card. He was seen wearing this very card around his neck during his debut at WrestleMania and often features it in his videos after swapping another Illustrator card and $4 million for it.

The Pikachu Illustrator card holds immense importance in the realm of Pokemon collectibles. Its history traces back to a contest organized by a Japanese magazine, wherein 39 winners received this card personally designed by Atsuko Nishida, the creator of the famed Pokemon character Pikachu.

Undeniably rare, Paul's card is reputed to be in the finest known condition, adding to its value. The card's potential sale could open up another high-value transaction in the world of collectible cards. For reference, a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card sold for over $12 million and is considered the priciest sports memorabilia to date.

Paul has refrained from sharing specific details on why, how or for what price he might sell the card, though he previously identified his investment in the Illustrator as an “absurd amount of money for cardboard." However, Jeremy Padawer, a toy industry executive who knows Logan, suggests such valuable collectible items frequently change owners and perhaps are not meant to be enjoyed by a single person forever.
