Two leading entities in the restaurant reservation and ride-sharing industries are joining forces. OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation platform under the purview of Booking Holdings, and Uber, renowned for its ride-sharing and delivery services, have announced a strategic partnership. This alliance will link Uber's established delivery framework with OpenTable’s considerable restaurant network.
The collaborative efforts aim to facilitate seamless connection between dine-in, delivery, and transportation experiences, creating opportunities for restaurants to reach a larger customer base, optimize table turnover, and deliver exceptional dining experiences, irrespective of customers being physically present or enjoying food at home. OpenTable's senior director of global communications, Mary-Kate Smitherman, provided these insights during a conversation with Investopedia.
This partnership will incorporate integrations across Uber Eats, Uber itself, and the OpenTable application. The companies have announced a planned phased roll-out, providing more details about this partnership in the forthcoming months. As a response to this announcement, Uber's shares experienced a minor 0.2% surge on Monday, while Booking Holdings noticed a slight 0.6% decrease.
